Anonymous What do booking directors, editors at fashion magazines, creative director, fashion directors do exactly? and what are other jobs one can have at a magazine or modelling agency? Do they pay well? I'd love to know because I know for sure I want to go into the fashion industry but I can't decide on one! I'm open to all ideas, really.

Booking directors book the models, photographers, hair stylists, etc. for the editorial shoots. The term “editor” is very vague. They mostly prepare the written material for publication. A create director often crosses over as a stylist (see: Grace Coddington). I’m not entirely sure how to define a fashion director, but think Nina Garcia at Marie Claire. I’m not working in the industry so I’m not entirely sure what the going salaries are, but I do know that a majority of people that work in the industry get paid very little. It’s only the big, recognizable names that get paid well. If you’re not Bee Shaffer, you’ve got to start at the bottom.
